Job Description and Responsibilities

As the summer intern I worked in the office in Washington, DC with the CEO and two other full time employees. I was treated the same as any new hire, with an understanding that I had no prior experience so I would have more of a learning curve than a permanent hire.

 

The job description for interns there is broad and vague. I helped with whatever needed to be done, focusing on my strengths and interests. My responsibilities were decribed more in the interview.

 

My main responsibilities included:

  • Website design, maintenance, and management

  • Social media account creation and management.

  • Public relations responsibilities like communicating with media representatives on behalf of clients, preparing talking points for client interviews and appearances, assisting with the writing and sending of press releases to the public and news stories for client websites.

  • Participating in conference calls with clients.

  • Working on national direct mail, media buying, and using mass email services.
